Ferrari F2004 (2004)
If the F2002 had been dominant, the F2004 was close to untouchable. Rory Byrne's final car as chief designer combined a remarkably efficient V10 with a chassis that worked in perfect harmony with Bridgestone's tyres.
Michael Schumacher won twelve of the first thirteen races — the only blemish a collision in the Monaco tunnel — and clinched his seventh world title in Belgium with four rounds to spare. Ferrari won fifteen of the season's eighteen Grands Prix.
Many of its lap records stood for well over a decade, making the F2004 a reference point for how fast a V10-era car could be.
Season in numbers
The F2004 was Ferrari’s car for the 2004 Formula One World Championship, powered by the Ferrari 053 (3.0-litre V10) engine on Bridgestone tyres.
It was driven by Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello. Ferrari started 18 of the season’s 18 races, with 15 wins, 29 podium finishes and twelve pole positions.
Ferrari won the Constructors’ Championship with 262 points, and Michael Schumacher won the Drivers’ Championship.
